Presently, our department has an undergraduate program as well as a graduate institate being composed of a Master (MA) and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) program in economics. The Master program began its recruitment of students in the year 1990, and is one of the five graduate programs when the university first established in 1989; while both the undergraduate and Doctorate programs were instituted in 1992. As the department finds itself rapidly approaching its twelve-year milestone, a reflection into the past reveals the success that the dedication to nurturing today's young has resulted in the success of tomorrow's elite. As of 200, the department has produced 22 Ph.D. graduates , 275 Master graduates and 3 classes of over 360 undergraduates. Of those who completed graduate school, many are themselves teaching at universities or vocational schools, and an overwhelming percentage have entered professions in banking, stock brokerage, and other prominent vocations. Not only are our graduates well established in their careers, but their thesis and papers have found their way to publication through many respectable magazines and journals. As for our undergraduates, many chose to continue their higher education, whereas the rest found success in a wide variety of professions.
The achievements experienced to this day in our department results from the hard work and dedication of 20 full time professors and numerous adjunct professors. With educating, researching, serving, and assisting in mind, these professors have guided students through problems of study as well as those of daily life. In addition, the scope of our teachings encompass 5 main areas of economics, namely Economic Theory and Quantitative Method, International Economics, Industrial Organization, Economics of Development and Public Economics. In order to adapt to a perpetually changing economy, the department strives to continually reinforce practical and experimental aspects of education to better equipped students for the future and allow them to apply theory to practice. It is our belief that an outstanding staff and an amiable teaching and learning environment will surely produce the great leaders to tomorrow, and allow us to step toward a promising new century. |
